Founder & Vision
Rooted in Heritage.
Driven by
Purpose.
House of Living Heritage began as a quiet conviction: that cultural memory is not a burden, but a compass. From families and artisans along historic trade routes to communities shaping their own narratives today, our work honours what came before while building what comes next.
Every programme we design is rooted in respect for place, for craft, and for the people who carry traditions forward with dignity and imagination.
HLH Today
Today HLH works across Kashmir and Silk Route regions where layered histories meet urgent contemporary needs. We partner locally to strengthen stewardship of landscapes, languages, and livelihoods so heritage remains vivid in daily life, not locked behind glass.
Founder and Chief Executive Maria Aftab leads with a model grounded in listening bridging elders, practitioners, and young leaders. Her vision treats culture as infrastructure: the relationships and skills that help communities thrive with coherence and pride.
Heritage is not what remains of the past.
It is a living force that can still create belonging, prosperity, and connection for generations to come.
